5 Days in Byron Bay

Byron Bay is a holiday destination long-loved for its surf, beaches, forests and free-spirited bohemian culture. The Byron of today celebrates all these things and adds carefree style through artisan retail offerings and endless flavour thanks to a thriving culinary personality.

This curated guide helps you plan the ultimate Byron Bay holiday – mixing relaxation, indulgence and discovery in one unforgettable experience.

Day One – Check in and Relax

Afternoon

There is something exciting about checking in, exploring the resort on the way to your villa and opening the door. Your holiday has officially begun and there’s plenty of time to kick it off in style on your very first day.

Head straight to the Central Lagoon Pool. Dive in and feel the pressure of your day-to-day life wash away. Peruse the Breeze Poolside Café and Bar cocktail menu and start your holiday by clinking glasses on a hanging bed.

Evening

As the sun begins to wane, make your way to the fire pit for pre-dinner drinks. Watch the mesmerizing flames of the fire pit bouncing off the Central Lagoon Pool and feel the anticipation build as a cocktail shaker sings to you from the bar.

After your pre-dinner cocktail step inside the Azure Bar and Grill Dining Room. Pour over the award winning wine list before moving onto cuisine. You’ll find Executive Chef Ebony Baker has curated a menu led by the perfection of her ingredients.

Paying homage to the freshest local produce, Ebony includes Indigenous and foraged ingredients wherever possible, balancing flavour and texture to create a sensory dining experience.

Day Two – Indulge

Begin Your Day

Greet the sun with a morning yoga session overlooking Belongil Beach at Heart of the Bay. Element’s First Light Club offers a daily yoga ritual against the soundtrack of waves hitting the sand and seabirds singing above.

Head to the terrace for an al fresco Azure Bar and Grill breakfast. An indulgent and generous buffet with customised options like eggs, cooked just the way you like, is a sure fire way to start the day right.

Morning

After an epicurean breakfast grab a copy of Elemental magazine from your villa or borrow a book from the resort library and head to the Adults Exclusive Pool. Pick a private cabana and practice that wonderful holiday art of lounging.

Cool off by diving into the pool and swimming up to the Summer Salt Bar for a refreshing cocktail and light lunch. Holiday feels? Check and mate!

As you leave the Adults Exclusive pool and stroll back to your villa enjoy a little playful competition on your holiday with a nearby game of boccé or chess.

Afternoon

Enter the serene space of our resort Osprey Spa, wrapping yourself in a bathrobe and sipping your welcome drink before allowing the experienced therapists to massage, cleanse, polish and indulge you with a relaxation or beauty treatment.

Float back to your private villa and practice your siesta skills with a coveted afternoon nap. With Elements of Byron’s specially designed, sleep optimised Sealy beds and luscious bed linens, dreamtime is calling.

Evening

Wake up completely refreshed and get ready for a night out in Bryon village. Choose your restaurant by flavour or consider what type of date night you’d like to have: funky modern vibes, a vibrant party mood or the air of romance?

Moonlight Hibachi Grill sets the scene with its black interior, marble bar and white accents. Japanese cuisine, cocktails and an elevated wine menu seamlessly unite hundreds of years of tradition with fresh modern styling for an unforgettable dinner experience.

The Smoking Camel puts modern middle eastern food and perfectly presented cocktails right in the middle of the party. Vibrant and ornate decorations create an instant atmosphere, while share-plates ensure your dinner conversation flows as well as the cocktails.

If romance is the call of the evening, head to a Byron Bay restaurant icon – Beach. Against the sound of waves crashing onto Clarkes Beach you’ll feel a little old world charm and taste delicately balanced modern Australian flavours served up with polish. Read our guide to romantic restaurants in Byron Bay, if you’d like more options.

Day Three – Walk the Walk

Begin Your Day

Wake up and lace up! Don your walking shoes and head to Azure Bar and Grill for a terrace buffet breakfast that will fuel your day’s adventures. With one of Byron’s most iconic walks ahead of you, a hearty breakfast is in order.

Morning

Take a short walk to North Beach Station and jump on the world’s first solar train. This vintage train was lovingly restored by a team of train historians, heritage engineers and clean energy experts. The best way to travel into Bryon’s vibrant village, it takes only ten minutes.

Once you’ve arrived, head to the beach and you’ll find a pathway just past the Surf Club that will lead you all the way to the iconic Cape Byron Lighthouse trail.

The 3.7km long loop will take you past some of Byron Bay’s most renowned beaches such as The Pass and Wategos Beach, along cliff tops that are perfect for viewing soaring eagles and even migrating whales (in season) and of course to the foot of the historic Byron Bay Lighthouse. Construction on the 22-metre lighthouse began in 1899, took two years to complete and allowed a six-wick kerosene burner to help guide ships to safety.

Afternoon

After earning an extra special lunch, jump on the train back to North Beach Station. From there it’s an easy two minute walk to Commune Canteen . Located in the Habitat village, Barrio has an authentic and warm neighbourhood restaurant atmosphere and offers delicious share-plates of modern Mediterranean and Italian food.

Vagabond is another great lunch option, also located within Habitat. A cool, casual and nutritious eatery, Vagabond is loved for its diverse selection of vegetarian and vegan goodies and incredible coffee. Byron has many vegetarian and vegan eateries to choose from.

Work off a delicious lunch with a little retail therapy. Habitat is home to a curated collection of artisan and designer boutique stores that offer men’s and women’s fashions, wellness and homewares.

Habitat Collective is a great place to start with shelves brimming with beautiful local creations. The Department of Simple Things for Men is dedicated to bloke-life with everything from skateboards, motorbikes and a barbershop on offer next to barbeques and fashion.

Evening

Back in the sanctuary of your villa soak in the benefits of a bathing ritual with indulgent bath products and a snuggly robe to wrap around yourself afterward.

Play cards or watch a movie as you wait for the ultimate indulgence of your In Room dining to arrive. Dine in your bathrobes before folding yourself into bed for that deep sleep only reserved for the relaxed holiday mind.

Day Four – Saddle Up

Begin Your Day

For most of us, there’s a little indulgence that is only reserved for holidays – the sleep in! Cocoon yourself a little longer in the total bliss of your bed before making your way to the Azure Bar and Grill breakfast buffet.

Morning

Meet the resort’s resident Naturalist for a nature walk that will open your eyes to the secrets of our resident wildlife. The guided rainforest walk will take you on a tour through the four ecologies that immediately border the resort.

Cool off in the Adults Exclusive Pool and dine on a poolside lunch from Summer Salt Bar – brought to your cabana so you don’t even need to move to order it.

Afternoon

Saddle up for a brand new adventure with the expert instructors at Zephyr Horses. Located on the outskirts of the resort, the ranch is the starting point for a guided horse ride through the forest and out onto the beach.

With the sea breeze in your hair and the gentle walk of your steed creating a rhythm to your journey, this experience is simply unforgettable.

Evening

As the day grows weary, head to Belongil Beach for a cocktail with your toes in the sand. Botanica Beach Club serves refreshing beverages from a vintage camper right on the edge of the beach.

When your hunger grows take the short walk to Azure Bar and Grill, tasting all new dishes from the menu and all new wines from the award winning list.

Day Five – Final Wave

Begin Your Day

Jump out of bed and make the most of your final morning with a First Light Club yoga session or pump up your heart rate even further in the Fitness Centre. Dine on one last buffet breakfast in the al fresco setting of the Azure Bar and Grill terrace.

Morning

Voted Australia’s best hotel pool by Gourmet Traveller, the Adults Exclusive Pool seems like the perfect place to end your Elements of Byron holiday soaking in those irreplaceable holiday vibes. Wave a final goodbye to an epic Byron Bay holiday and make plans to do it all again very soon.
