Taste Byron Bay
Terase Davidson’s Taste Byron Bay food tours satisfy the senses with seasonal local produce and scenic drives that take you from the beach to the fertile hills behind Byron Bay.
But first, a bit of background on this accomplished chef.
After kick-starting her career as a junior chef at Sydney’s multi-award-winning, fine dining Aqua Dining restaurant (then one hatted), Terase founded an online foodie hub based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches that quickly cultivated a strong following by people who shared her love of seasonal ingredients and back-to-basics food philosophies.
“This venture combined walking food tours, cooking classes, catered events and a popular market stall,” she recalls.
In 2014, Terase ran a series of food tours and cooking classes in Byron to test the waters, which proved to be just as popular as they were in Sydney. Soon after that, Taste Byron Bay was born.
Terase’s Farmers’ Markets, Farm and Beer Tasting Tour on Saturdays, and Boutique Shopping and Local Produce Tour on Sundays, have since become firm fixtures on the local foodie calendar and enjoyed by both locals and visitors.
Cruising around in a classic Kombi, Taste Byron Bay guests are taken on scenic guided food tours that weave their way from Byron and Brunswick Heads to Bangalow and Newrybar – and a few special stops in between.
“Visiting some of our favourite local farmers’ markets, artisanal producers, bespoke businesses, farmers and eateries, we uncover little hidden foodie gems along the way,” she says. “Both food tours provide plenty of opportunities to sample the region’s finest produce and ask lots of foodie questions whilst taking in spectacular scenery along the way.”
Discovering the unique flavours that make up this region’s culinary identity, Taste Byron Bay gives locals and travellers a special insight into this popular gourmet destination.
“We can also design private food tours, ones that specifically cater to your sense of foodie adventure and time schedule,” Terase says. “So whether you’d like to visit a farm, explore the lush hinterland, indulge in a shopping spree, visit a local brewery, or simply enjoy lunch at one of the many beautiful restaurants and cafés in the region, Taste Byron Bay will tailor a food tour package just for you.”
